Welcome to the Homepage of the European OWC Wave Power Plant on the Island of Pico/Azores.

This webpage is the outcome of the program of repair works carried out on the OWC pilot plant, co-ordinated by Wave Energy Centre (WavEC) in Portugal, with national funding under a Portuguese scheme for scientific pilot projects (PRIME/DEMTEC).

Once finished this project, the WavEC continued the monitoring programme with its own funding. 

Significant improvement has been achieved since 2009 resulting in autonomous operation by the end of 2010.
