This year, the 35th Pico Group International Conference was held in in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Since 2014, it has been a conference tradition for delegates to help create a better future by putting our focus on employees, community and the environment into action in the host community.

Creating a greener world by planting trees in Kuala Lumpur

Every year at the conference, delegates conduct an activity for Pico Global Care in Action. This year, we held a tree planting team building activity in Kuala Lumpur focusing on caring for the environment. On the morning of 14 December, more than two hundred Pico delegates visited Taman Tugu Park, an urban forest with a mission to conserve the natural environment for various communities. Under the guidance of landscape experts, our delegates planted over 200 forest shrubs and 12 two meter-high trees on a 1,200 square foot site, some of which were endangered or critically endangered species.

Planting trees remains one of the cheapest, most effective means of drawing excess carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere. By 2050, the 200+ forest shrubs and the 12 mature trees we planted will absorb around 300 tonnes of CO2 in total*.

This year’s participants not only came to understand the importance of creating a greener world for the next generation, they also used their strong team spirit to work together doing something new, creating an exciting, joyful and unforgettable experience.

Pico also provided financial support to the Taman Tugu Project with a donation of MYR 10,000 (USD 2,400) in support of the conservation, regeneration, and preservation of Taman Tugu and nature.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all Pico conference delegates, Pico offices and those who made individual contributions for making this year’s mission another outstanding success!
